Position/Job Title: Temporary Administrative Assistant

The Court is recruiting a temporary Administrative Assistant for its Registry, for a period of six months, from mid-January to mid-July 2021, with a possibility of a short extension. The Registry is responsible for the Court’s procedures, as well as its general administration, including human resources, budget planning, financial control, information technology, office facilities and procurement.


The successful candidate will do supportive work for the practical administration of the Court, mainly relating to case handling. Tasks include, but are not limited to, registering incoming documents, preparing case related correspondence, monitoring deadlines, and maintaining the Court’s case register.

Documentary evidence should not be attached to initial applications. Should the need arise, necessary documentary evidence will be requested. Originals of qualifications, references or testimonials should in no event be submitted unless they have been obtained for the sole use of the EFTA Court. Letters of reference will not be returned to applicants.


Only applicants who succeed in the first step of the recruitment procedure will be called for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be informed.


Every application is given due consideration. Acknowledgement of receipt is sent to each applicant. Subsequent correspondence is at the initiation of EFTA Court.


Recruitment policy

The EFTA Court has two categories of staff; professional staff and general staff. Staff may be appointed on regular contracts or on shorter, temporary contracts. Employment contracts are normally for a fixed period of three years. Depending on the needs of the EFTA Court, a renewal for three years may be offered, but normally not more than once.


In addition to its staff members, the EFTA Court has a limited need for trainees for a period of two to four months. Persons interested in becoming a trainee may approach or apply to the EFTA Court.


While staff members are normally nationals of one of the three EFTA States party to the EEA Agreement, the Court will also consider other applications, primarily those of nationals of the other States that are party to the EEA Agreement. At present, the staff comprises 7 nationalities.


Salaries, Benefits, Allowances

The EFTA Court offers attractive remuneration packages and benefits. Starting salaries are based upon academic and professional qualifications, as well as the level of the post. The salary scales are set by the ESA/Court Committee.
