On 15 and 16 October 2026 the EFTA Court received a group of 30 judges from Norwegian courts. The visit is an annual educational event organized by the Norwegian Court Administration. During their stay, the group was welcomed by the President of the Court, Páll Hreinsson, engaged in a dialogue with Judge Michael Reiertsen on the importance of the advisory opinion procedure and received information on important developments in EU and EEA law from Registrar Ólafur Jóhannes Einarsson and legal secretaries Agnes Lindberg and Per Tandberg. This year, particular attention was given to consumer protection and the integration of human rights in the EEA. The group also visited the ECJ and exchanged views with Judge Jan Passer, Judge Louise Spangsberg Grönfeldt and legal secretary Kathleen Gutman on the role and workings of the ECJ, the General Court and the Advocate Generals of the ECJ, not least how they relate to and work with the EFTA Court towards common goals. The visit and exchanges fostered understanding for the common responsibility for enforcing EEA law shared between the EFTA Court, the ECJ and domestic courts within the EEA.
