On 14 January 2026, during a public sitting of the EFTA Court, Ms. Nuscha Wieczorek from Liechtenstein took the oath as a new member of the EFTA Surveillance Authority. Prior to taking up this position, Ms. Wieczorek was a Deputy Head of Liechtenstein’s Mission to the European Union, from January 2022 to the end of 2025. Previously, Ms. Wieczorek served in several different positions at the Mission and Liechtenstein’s Office for Foreign Affairs. Ms. Wieczorek holds a doctorate degree in law from the University of Basel, Switzerland, and an LL.M. from Columbia University, New York. She has also held various research and teaching positions in the field of national and international public law at Swiss universities.
She succeeds Mr Stefan Barriga as a Member of the EFTA Surveillance Authority.
College Members of the EFTA Surveillance Authority are appointed, for a period of four years, by common accord of the Governments of the three EFTA States parties to the EEA Agreement.
